It’s a fact that coffee contains antioxidants. But you usually put sugar and cream in it, which reduces its health benefits. The polyphenols found in black tea are believed to kill cancer cells. Studies show that tea regulates the growth of cancer cells and stops the development of new cells.
Black tea has also been shown to reduce the growth of breast tumors. So if you have a history of cancer in your family, it might be a good idea to start drinking more teas. With tea, it’s just so simple. Even if you don’t have a kettle, you can boil it over the stove. From there, you pour your water into a cup and throw in the teabag of your choice.

Even though black coffee contains a fair amount of antioxidants, you are likely to get more from your tea. Flavonoids have a ton of great benefits. When you drink tea, the antioxidants will go to war with free radicals. This decreases cell damage and reduces your risk of getting a chronic disease. The average 8 oz brewed coffee holds 96 mg of caffeine, while black tea holds 47. This is just enough to give you that quick boost of energy you need to get things done in the morning. Another big difference between tea and coffee’s caffeine is that when you’re coming down from a coffee buzz, you really come down. Coffee can make you super depressed. So if you’re looking for something that will help you survive the workday, make tea your go-to.

If you’re looking to shed some decent pounds, tea can do it for you. Drinking coffee just isn’t the same. I mean there’s evidence to show that a diet of black coffee can make a difference on the scale. But when it comes to green tea, there’s little comparison. Green tea feeds the good bacteria in your gut.
This works to improve your digestive system. As a result, you’re going to lose weight quicker. The state of your gut bacteria plays a really important role in your health. This includes lowering your blood pressure and your cholesterol. One study from 2012 focused on patients who drank black tea every day for 12 weeks straight. By the end, their blood sugar, triglyceride, and cholesterol levels had decreased dramatically. This leads to a much happier heart. I mean coffee’s antioxidants can lower your risk of disease, but it needs to be consumed black in order to get the full benefits.
Tea’s just better in this area. Not convinced? Here’s another study that might convince you to drink more tea. Apparently, three cups of black tea each day lowers your chances of getting heart disease. So if heart disease runs in your family, or you’re just concerned about your overall health, drink some more tea.
While coffee can help you wake up in the morning, it’s not exactly associated with stress relief. Too many coffees can have you bouncing off the wall. This will increase your anxiety. This is exactly what you need during a fast paced work week. Tea also works well during the holiday seasons, when people are really stressed out. Tea has other mental health benefits as well. It’s been said that drinking 100 mL each day can lower your risk of developing depression. It may even stop you from getting dementia. So if you want something that makes you feel better mentally, I would choose tea over coffee any day.
Tea Keeps You Hydrated
If it’s a scorching hot summer day, you want something that quenches your thirst and keeps your fluids going. When it comes to hot beverages, tea is your best bet. Tea on a hot day? Who’s going to go for that? Well, tea can keep you hydrated, so it does make sense. While coffee can also do this, you’re more likely to stay hydrated with tea.
It has more H2O. It will replace fluids you’ve lost during the day through sweat. But there’s a catch to this. You don’t want to have caffeinated tea. Too much caffeine will have the opposite effect. While you will have a boost in energy in the beginning, you’ll become dehydrated. In the case of hydration, you want herbal tea instead. These are generally caffeine-free and don’t have any dehydrating effects. And the beauty of it is that there are so many herbal teas to choose from. I’m talking about anything from chamomile to peppermint, to rosehip. They’re made from the leaves, stems, flowers, and roots of plants.
